The U.S. Marine Corps Combat Correspondents Association is honored to announce that P.T. Brent is this year’s recipient of the Brigadier General Robert L. Denig Sr. Memorial Distinguished Service Award. The award was presented during our recent banquet at Camp Pendleton.
P.T. Brent is a distinguished U.S. Marine veteran who has led a varied and impactful career since his service as an infantry Marine. He is recognized for his accomplishments as a successful businessman, an embedded journalist reporting from combat zones, and a dedicated supporter of Marine Corps causes. We are also proud to have him serve as a board member for our association.
The Brigadier General Robert L. Denig Sr. Memorial Distinguished Service Award is presented annually to an individual who has made an especially significant contribution to the ideals, traditions, and achievements of the United States Marine Corps. The award honors its namesake, who organized the Corps’ first Department of Public Relations and created the original group of Combat Correspondents, known as “Denig’s Demons.”
P.T. was selected for this honor because of his lifelong dedication to the Marine Corps. Embodying the ethos “Once A Marine, Always A Marine,” he has spent 30 years mentoring teenagers in the Devil Pups program, played a key role in establishing the Marine Corps Museum, and spearheaded the Marines Memorial at Pearl Harbor. He has continued to tell the Marine Corps story as an embedded combat journalist and author, and has delivered more than 100 professional military education (PME) sessions to Marine units.
