Venerable Cy O'Brien , thought to be our oldest living CC, turns 92 on Sunday, January 30. We have been informed by his daughters as well as his friend, Ellie Bertrand, that he had recurring surgery January 24 to remove the lining from a lung due to fluid accumulation. He is also having problems with his kidney and his liver. Knowing Cy, he would - in booming voice - tell us all to get on with it. Combat Camera Management sends their thoughts and prayers to Lance Corporal Jorge Ortiz and his family. Combat photographer LCpl Ortiz sustained injuries while in the line of duty in Afghanistan. He is currently recuperating at the Bethesda Naval Medical Facility. Retired MGySgt. Terrence J. Kearn s passed away at his home in Reno, NV January 7. A military funeral was held January 21 at the Fernley, NV Veterans Cemetery. The Marine Corps Heritage Foundation is now accepting submissions for its annual awards program. Each year, the Foundation presents a series of awards to both Marines and civilian community members, recognizing their exemplary work in advancing and preserving Marine Corps history.
