A bronze plaque honoring Joe Rosenthal , photographer of “Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima,” will be dedicated at the National Museum of the Marine Corps , 18900 Jefferson Davis Highway, Triangle, Virginia, on October 9, 2013, the 102nd anniversary of his birth. " The Lou Lowery Award" - LCpl. Jason Morrison is presented the Leatherneck Magazine Lou Lowery award August 16 for  best photo appearing in the magazine during 2012 by lst Marine Division CG Maj. Gen. Lawrence D. Nicholson .  Shown in the background is Sgt. Maj. Frank Pulley , Area Representative for the MCA.  The Combat Camera Marine was unable to attend the USMCCCA Merit Awards Banquet at Andrews AFB July 24.  The award carries with it a check for $500.
