The Marine Corps Heritage Foundation is accepting nominations for its Annual Awards program until January 8, 2014. Each year the annual awards program honors Marines and civilians alike, who have produced outstanding work portraying an aspect of the Marine Corps’ 238 years of traditions, culture and service. The Foundation encourages reporters, writers, photographers, film makers and other artists to submit their own works. Others may nominate someone else’s work they believe

New Life Member Sgt. Albert Carls, ComCam, 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune proudly shows his USMCCCA Life Membership card.  Carls, who was wounded in Afghanistan, was awarded the Life Membership based on his receipt of the Purple Heart Medal.  He is also the winner of the 2012 Sgt. William T. Perkins Combat Cameraman of the Year award.

Cpl. Matthew Callahan currently attending the Basic Public Affairs Specialist Course at DINFOS will likely be interviewed Nov. 29 for a segment on the nationally broadcast FOX and Friends morning show.  Callahan is a former infantryman/wounded warrior-turned-photojournalist.  He uses his Instagram photo blog " bridgingthegap_ " to show the boots-on-the-ground view of the military.  They will likely show some of his photos during the interview.

The annual Ball adjourned about 2300 ( that's 11 p.m. civilian time).
