Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for Medina

Cpl. Robert C. Medina, combat correspondent, is awarded a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal at the 1st Marine Logistics Group Public Affairs Office at Camp Pendleton, Calif., Oct. 6, 2009. While the rest of the 1st MLG PA Marines were forward in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) 8.2, Cpl. Medina returned to a Group without a Public Affairs Office.

He found office space, furniture and computers to house the newly-deconsolidated office, while simultaneously covering the remain-behind 1st MLG Marines, attending special staff briefings and assisting forward Group PA Marines. He single handedly performed the duties of the remain behind PAO, chief and combat correspondent for six months. (Marine Corps photos by Sgt. Brian Lautenslager)
