Public Information Officer Sought

Anne Arundel County Government, located on the scenic Chesapeake Bay in Annapolis, Maryland is searching for a highly qualified, experienced Public Information Officer. The Public Information Officer maintains positive relations between Anne Arundel County and the public while providing the media and public with accurate and timely information relating to public interest.  The Public Information Officer is responsible for media relations, writing and editing press releases and speeches, creating ceremonial documents and correspondence, and special events.  This position is within the County Executive's Office and reports directly to the County Executive. The Public Information Officer position requires exceptional skills and ability in written and oral communication.  This position requires the ability to proofread, edit and verify information for accuracy, write and edit speeches and press releases, make presentations to small and large audiences, respond to citizen and media requests in a courteous and timely manner and exercise sound judgment in safeguarding sensitive information.  Successful candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations or a related field and three (3) years of communications or public relations experience.  An acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered in place of a Bachelor's degree.
