A graduate of Mills College, Dietz served as a US Congressional staffer, then at President Nixon's Re-election Committee headquarters. She founded Iwo Jima Monument West to provide Camp Pendleton its own version of Arlington’s USMC War Memorial statue—based on Joe Rosenthal’s flag raising photograph. After working on the project for seven years, she anticipates final Dept. of the Navy approval in time to dedicate the monument on the Marine Corps Birthday in 2022. Dietz is hoping the Pendleton Memorial will spur interest in more Iwo Jima monuments around the US to both inspire and educate Americans. She may share her future plans with us!
