Gene Smith receives Dickson Award at belated ceremony

Gene Smith's citation: Gene Smith is a Vietnam-era Combat Correspondent who parlayed his love of golf into the position of Tournament Director of the PGA Champions Tour.  Through it all he never forgot his Marine beginnings and today is largely responsible for the success of our USMCCCA Foundation. His golf contacts have enabled him to secure equipment donations for auctions at the annual USMCCCA Foundation (Florida Chapter) Golf Tournament enabling the Chapter to make sizeable annual financial contributions to the Foundation. Despite his busy schedule, he always finds ways to attend meetings of the Florida Chapter as well as our national conferences when his schedule permits.  His support is not limited to the Florida Chapter.  He is one of the first each year to contribute to the annual Booster Club and also one of the first to ask if there is anything else he can do. Your Association Board feels he is a worthy selection for this 2014 award.
