USMCCCA Journal in the mail

Our final accounting of an eventful year (2015) can be found in the USMCCCA Annual Journal that went in the mail to all member this afternoon.  This year’s cover by award-winning Sgt. Reese Lodder, depicts a poolee performing an initial strength test BEFORE heading off to recruit training.  This year’s edition contains more story content than ever before. Amy Forsythe remembers Maj. Megan McClung our first female Marine officer to be killed in combat.  “Be Brief, Be Bold.  Be Gone” is a tribute to this media relations officer who was killed in Iraq Dec. 6, 2006. Dale Dye recounts what it was like to become a young “snuffie” under then-Captain Mawk Arnold in Vietnam in 1966.  His “A Jangled Head-trip Down Memory Lane” is a sometimes hilarious accounting of growing up as a CC in harm’s way. LaDonna Aiken recounts the growth of Far East Network, Okinawa.  This oldest station was the first Armed Forces Radio Service (AFRS) station established in Japanese-held territory.  How it grew, sometimes in spite of itself, is a great read! These stories as well as our annual tribute to our active duty warriors who competed in the 2014-15 USMCCCA DPA and VIEC competition make this issue a must read. Non-members who might want a copy can get one easily – JOIN US!  Or, send the Executive Director (or do it via PayPal on our website) a check for $12.50 and he’ll put one in the mail.
