Maryland CCs dodge raindrops in chapter tourney success

As Pfc. Daniel Kujanpaa's photo attests,  Arnold, Md.'s Bay Hills Country Club was an idyllic setting for the Maryland CC Chapter's first annual golf tournament - but only for part of the day.   Driving rain caused officials to shut down the course within three holes of the finish, giving the win to CC John Hoellwarth's foursome. Wet or not, the 26 golfers, included two "Wounded Warriors," enjoyed a tasty barbeque lunch and rowdy awards ceremony in the clubhouse.   "And we finished well 'in the black,'" reported smiling chapter president Tiffany Carter.    Modeled after the Florida Chapter's string of successful events on the links, nomadic CCs Bob and Evi Jordan spearheaded a Maryland effort that featured several hundred dollars' worth of donated prizes and sponsorship from Leatherneck magazine, Red Carpenter, Fred Lash and others.   Watch this space for more detail and photos from what CC and schoolhouse Marine Detachment commander, Danny Chung, called a "super inaugural tournament."
