Cy O'Brien invited to cut the cake at the CMC Birthday Ball

Captain Cyril O'Brien, USMC (Ret), has been invited byGeneral James T. Conway, Commandant of the Marine Corps, to attend his Washington, D.C.  Birthday Ball on Nov. 14, 2009 as a special guest.

The Commandant wrote, "As the oldest Marine present, you are also invited to take part in the traditional cake-cutting ceremony. It would truly be our honor and pleasure to host you, a distinguished member of our Nation's "greatest generation," as we celebrate our Corps' 234th Birthday." -- Walt Ford, Editor, Leatherneck Magazine
